Description
- The Southwest Florida Water Management District (District), a leader in protecting Florida's water resources, is seeking a Hydrologic Data Analyst in support of the Data Collection Bureau. This is professional, technical work supporting data collection needs, including collection, maintenance, analysis, reporting, quality control, and special-project investigations with hydrologic data. The successful candidate will perform quality assurance checks on data, focusing on completeness and accuracy of data. Investigates data problems, suggests solutions, and oversees implementation of corrective actions through coordination with other section staff. Evaluates and edits data by applying broad knowledge of hydrology, and prepares summary tables, reports, and maps. May assist in the collection of hydrologic and meteorological data from various types of collection devices and recorders located throughout the District as necessary to meet schedules.
Essential Functions
- Provides assistance to field supervisor and technicians through resolving data collection, field software, hardware, and data adjustment issues.
- Writes and troubleshoots datalogger programs and administers program catalog.
- Manages elevation survey data, reports and documentation.
- Assists in the field with elevation surveys and collection of hydrologic and meteorological data from various types of collection devices and recorders located throughout the District as required to meet schedules.
- Assists in data evaluations and preparing summary tables, reports, and maps.
- Performs quality assurance checks on data, focusing on completeness and accuracy of data.
- Investigates specific data problems, suggests solutions, and oversees implementation of corrective actions through coordination with manager and other staff.
- Evaluates, edits, and annotates raw hydrologic data before uploaded to the Water Management Information System (WMIS).

Working Conditions
- This position is typically scheduled to work 40 hours per week Monday through Friday located in the District's Brooksville Headquarters.

- Most work is conducted in a standard office environment. Some travel to other facilities and field sites is required, with occasional field work in remote and undeveloped areas of the District, under adverse weather conditions.
- Work activity is primarily sedentary with ability to perform continuous repetitive tasks, such as keyboarding, with one or both hands. Work involves occasional field work with exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity during which employee must occasionally be able to bend, lift, carry, and reach above shoulder level with up to 20 pounds of equipment or supplies.
- Must be able to swim.

Compensation: Minimum annual rate $45,219.20
Travel Required: Yes. Some travel, using District vehicle, within the District's coverage area.
